Siem Reap

Location of the Temples of Angkor

The temples of Angkor are a vast archaeological complex located near Siem Reap, built mainly between the 9th and 14th centuries by the Khmer Empire. Here are some of the major sites:

Angkor Wat: The largest religious monument in the world, often considered the masterpiece of Khmer architecture.

Angkor Thom: A fortified city including the Bayon, famous for its towers decorated with carved faces.

Ta Prohm: A temple left in a state very close to its discovery, famous for the trees and roots that invade the ruins.

Banteay Srei: Known for its delicate pink sandstone sculptures.

Preah Khan: A large, sprawling complex often less crowded than the more famous sites.

Phnom Penh to Siem Reap: About 5-6 hours drive or 1 hour flight.
